Muscat: Careem, operating in the Middle East and North Africa, has announced that it would be withdrawing from Oman on February 3.
The ride-hailing app said that it had decided to discontinue operating in Oman due to the “absence of the regulatory factors that provide a healthy investment environment”, reported the Oman Observer.
Careem entered the Oman market under agreement with Marhaba Taxi.
Meanwhile, Marhaba taxi will continue its normal operations as per the licence, which includes Port Sultan Qaboos (PSQ), hotels and on-demand services.
