My heart broke when I saw a picture of the girl in pink trying to cross the river from Greece into Macedonia (GDN, March 15).
She looked terrified, with freezing water up to her knees and the very real possibility of being swept away. She probably didn’t even know why she was there.
There is no point in blaming this on parents or locals. This situation needs sorting quickly and politicians should stop waffling and get something done.
This picture should be taken to Calais and shown to the fit, healthy, decently dressed migrants trying to get into Britain. Do they think they have more right to be here than the little girl does?
