We all have some habit or another that we are ashamed of.

Many people are plagued by nail biting or onychophagia.

This is not so much a bad habit as it is dangerous.

So stop now!

Some of the dangers of nail biting are:

1. Harmful bacteria

Nails are inhabited by harmful bacteria like Salmonella and E. coli.

Such bacteria gets transferred to your mouth and then other parts of your body when you bite them.

This can lead to infections.

Nails are carriers of germs because they are not cleaned often.

Whenever the urge to bite your nails arises, distract yourself.

With a stress ball, maybe?
