La Fontaine lines up poetic night

Well-known Indonesian singer Meda Kawu will perform poetic songs written by best-selling author Andrea Hirata at La Fontaine Centre of Contemporary Arts, in Manama, tomorrow night.

Mr Hirata will also be present to conduct a reading of his work, along with a book signing, at the stunning venue.

Half of all proceeds from ticket sales will go towards a free school established by the author in Indonesia.

Mr Hirata’s novel The Rainbow Troops has sold over five million copies worldwide and been turned into a critically acclaimed film and television series.

The Rainbow Troops is a semi-autobiographical novel about two dedicated village teachers who inspire a group of elementary school children to get an education against all odds.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet Mr Hirata and ask questions during the event. Doors open at 6pm and the performance starts at 7pm.
