Riyadh: Police in Saudi have arrested a man for violating a ban on barbershop services, according to Saudi media on Wednesday, Gulf News reported.
The man appeared in an online video violating the ban by bringing a barber to his residence in Al Qassim, a spokesman for the local police said.
Authorities in the Kingdom have closed down barber shops as part of a series of precautions aimed at limiting the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The violator of the ban is a Saudi man in his 40s, who "was arrested and procedures have been taken to refer him to public prosecution to apply the disciplinary penalty against him,” a police official said.
Several precautionary measures have been put in place by Saudi authorities over the past few weeks to curb the spread of the virus including suspending international and domestic flights as well as Umrah trips to Mecca and Medina and even enforcing a nighttime nationwide curfew.
