Muscat: A Qantas flight made an emergency landing at Muscat International Airport due to a medical emergency.

A passenger suffered a suspected heart attack aboard the Airbus A380 flight QF9 while en route from Melbourne to London on Friday.

However, the passenger died before the flight landed.

"The plane started to make a very fast descent and then later the pilot confirmed that they were making an emergency landing in Muscat, Oman," Sydney Morning Herald quoted a passenger as saying.

The flight was going to Dubai from Melbourne when the control tower at Muscat International Airport received a call for emergency landing.
