Manama: Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) sales surged 1.4 per cent despite the downside trend in aluminium prices.
For the first quarter of 2016, sales figures reached 231,538 tonnes, an increase of 3,231 tonnes, compared with 228,307 tonnes in the first quarter last year, while production dropped to 235,478 tonnes against 237,774 tonnes for the same period in 2015.
Further, Alba’s value-added sales averaged 52pc of total shipments in the first quarter this year versus 64pc for the same period in 2015.
“We managed to step up our sales performance despite tough market conditions weighing on the aluminium industry thanks to focused-marketing strategy,” chief executive Tim Murray said.
Alba will release its first-quarter 2016 financial results on May 2 as well as upload the IR presentation on its investor relation section at www.albasmelter.com.
