The efforts of the Education Ministry to support sport in schools have been praised by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Shaikh Khalid, who was chairing the weekly virtual meeting of the Co-ordination, Execution and Follow-up Committee, said that school sport is one of the essential tools for nurturing talents and supplying gifted sportspersons to the national teams.
He also hailed the efforts of the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry in contributing to the growth of the local economy which helps in the implementation of development projects that support the youth and sports movements.
Shaikh Khalid discussed with the attendees the sports professionalisation law and the methods to implement it. He also stressed the importance of establishing a hospital specialised in sports injuries.
The meeting was attended by Education Minister Dr Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani and MP Abdullah Al Dooseri, head of the constant awareness committee for youth and sports in Parliament.
