The concentration of major air pollutants has dropped tangibly in the UAE due to the transportation restrictions imposed to combat the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment reported an average 30 per cent decline in the levels of nitrogen dioxide, NO2, across the UAE between February 1 and April 30.
"The air quality is monitored across the country through its 52 stations and labs. Due to the slowdown of all activities as part of the response to the pandemic, the world is seeing a considerable reduction in air pollution.", said Aisha Al Abdooli, Director of the Green Development and Environment Affairs Department.
