World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus welcomed Riyadh’s decision to hold this year's Haj season, with a very limited number of pilgrims among nationalities living in Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Ghebreyesus said that the decision had been taken on the basis of a risk assessment and an analysis of several scenarios, in pursuance of WHO guidelines to protect pilgrims' safety and to limit the dangers of infections, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Addressing a press conference today, he reasserted WHO's support for Saudi decision, stressing that all countries should make such hard options, putting the public hygiene, atop of priorities and interests.
