Dar Kulaib clinched their first Bahrain Volleyball League title after defeating Al Nasr 3-1 in their third and final clash at the Bahrain Volleyball Association Sports Hall in Isa Town last night.
The scores of the sets were 22-25, 25-23, 28-26 and 25-22.
Al Nasr were looking for their 14th league title.
The first final saw Dar Kulaib win 3-2 in a thrilling encounter. Later their opponents hit back in the second final with a 3-2 victory.
In the third final it was Al Nasr who took the lead in the first set 25-22 thanks to the team’s star players Hassan Dahi Fadhel Abbas who displayed some fine blocks and powerful spikes. Dar Kulaib, however, fought back to win the remaining three straight sets.
Dar Kulaib’s stars were Mahmood Hassan and Ali Khairallah who came up with some fine blocks and defence work against Al Nasr’s spikers, especially their professional star Jeff Patick who scored many points with his powerful spikes.
The match was attended by Bahrain Volleyball Association President and Arab Volleyball Association President Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa who honoured the winners.
