Muscat: Oman health ministry has announced the cost of Covid-19 tests at private health establishments as being between OMR 15 and OMR 35.
The Directorate General of Private Health establishment at the MOH issued a table of costs for the three types of tests - RT-PCR, POC-PCR and serological test - offered at private establishments, the Times of Oman reported.
The ministry said the test duration lasts anywhere from 45 to 120 minutes and the fastest report can be issued within two hours for a serological test.
The RT-PCR test, at a cost of OMR35, uses a manual method to detect the current infection and the sample is taken using a nasal swab.
Results of the test can be obtained after 120 minutes and issuing of the report takes a period of two to three days, while the POC-PCR test takes 45 minutes and the report is issued in one day.
The test costs OMR 50 and is automated with a nasal swab sample.
Meanwhile, the serological test looks for previous infections through a blood sample and results can be obtained within 60 minutes while the report can be generated in two hours, the cost for which is OMR 15.
Oman's health ministry confirmed 207 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Sultanate to 81,787.
The ministry said that eight infected patients had passed away, raising the death toll to 521, while the country registered 76,142 recoveries in total.
