Riyadh: A Saudi national died after contracting the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV).
The 53-year-old man was diagnosed with the viral disease in the province of Najran.
The Ministry of Health has so far recorded 588 MERS-related deaths since the virus first broke out in Saudi Arabia in 2012.
Another Saudi national, 55, contracted MERS virus from camels in the region of Al-Hafoof.
Nine other patients are still under medical observation in stable condition, reported local Arabic daily Al-Riyadh.
