Two Saudi nationals die after contracting MERS

Riyadh: Two Saudi nationals died after contracting the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV).

A 76-year-old man died after he contracted the virus in the Governorate of Buraidah, in Qasim province.

The Ministry of Health also announced the death of a 72-year-old citizen in the Governorate of Al-Ahsa’a in the Eastern province.

According to a report in Arabic daily Al-Jazirah, health authorities have so far recorded 600 MERS-related deaths since the virus first broke out in Saudi Arabia in 2012.
