Edinburgh: Ian Mitchell, a former member of a Scottish pop band has passed away.
Mitchell, who was 62-years-old, was a member of the Bay City Rollers, which he joined in 1976 at the age of 17, replacing founding member and bassist Alan Longmuir.
Members said they are "deeply saddened" by the death and wrote "Rest In Peace, Ian," on their Instagram page.
Mitchell was a part of the band for nine months only after which he quit to return to his native Northern Ireland, where he performed with old school friends as the group Rosetta Stone.
The band became major sensations in the UK and US in the 1970s, spawning such hits as Bye Bye Baby and Shang-a-Lang.
It was formed by Edinburgh-born Alan Longmuir, who died in 2018, with his younger brother Derek.
