Muscat: Ahead of its planned re-opening on October 1, Oman has invited citizen and resident volunteers to participate in a trial for testing operational readiness of the Muscat International Airport on September 25.
"Muscat International Airport will be conducting health screening procedures and COVID-19 testing for all arriving passengers, and so we are inviting 150 volunteers to undergo the full arrival process including registration, immigration, COVID-19 PCR tests (nasal swabs), and exit through the baggage claim hall," the invitation on the airport's official website read.
"In the afternoon, we will be testing our drive-through COVID-19 testing facility with the help of a smaller number of volunteers.
"As part of the trial, you will receive a free PCR test (worth OMR 25), with the result communicated to you within 24 hours."
Participants are required to register for the 9am trial and once the registration form is completed and received, they will receive an approval email confirming their participation.
The participant will need to ensure that the following requirements are met:
1. Bring a valid passport and airport pass if available.
2. Attendance is limited to age 12 and above.
3. Make sure to be at the airport at 9am on Friday, September 25.
4. For health and safety reasons, wear face masks and maintain social distancing throughout the trial.
"We look forward to welcoming you next Friday. Thank you in advance for contributing towards the return of operations at our airports," the invitation added.
