Bahrain’s presence in European leagues has been hailed by His Majesty the King’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Shaikh Nasser was speaking while receiving the president and management of Spanish club Cordoba, in the presence of SCYS first deputy chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Shaikh Nasser affirmed that Bahrain’s presence in the European leagues represents an important sporting occasion, stating that this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of His Majesty, who has been keen to back all sporting events which put Bahrain in the international limelight.
“To have Bahraini nationals in leading positions in European clubs confirm the quality of our national cadres,” Shaikh Nasser said, expressing full support to the president and management of the club. He said that the acquisition of the club by Bahraini investors gives the kingdom an important role to play in realising the objectives of the club.
“Bahrain’s presence in the Spanish club is a significant step to promote Bahrain and its achievements in various sports, as this will allow us to meet the goals of our 2030 Economic Vision, which stresses the need to take advantage of all sporting events to highlight Bahrain. The kingdom has accomplished many achievements through direct Bahraini investment in the European market, including in France,” Shaikh Nasser added.
The president and the management of Cordoba briefed Shaikh Nasser about the activities of the club and thanked him for his support to the team.
