Al Hidd regained the top spot in the Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier League after defeating Al Hala 2-1 in the last match of the 16th round last night.
Al Hala struck first in the match, held at Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium in Arad, when Ahmed Rashid found the Al Hidd net in the 33rd minute.
Brazilian Carlos Giovanni hit back in the 44th minute for Hidd as the teams shared a goal each at half-time.
Hidd scored their second goal just three minutes after the interval through Adbel Wahab Al Maloud.
Last night’s victory took Hidd to the top of the standings with 35 points. They are ahead of title holders Riffa and Muharraq by just one point. Hala remain at the bottom with 10 points and are in danger of relegation to the second division.
The 17th round will begin on Friday when Al Ahli take on East Riffa and Al Shabab clash with Busaiteen.
