Dubai: Parking meter devices in Muscat will be removed and replaced with online payment services, Muscat Municipality has announced.
The devices will be removed from a number of locations in the city, starting November 1, after which vehicle owners would have to use online or mobile services to book and pay parking charges.
Areas that the metres will be removed from include the Central Business District, Ruwi Market, Al Fursan Street, Muttrah Souq, and Al Bahri Street.
Motorists can book for their parking by sending an SMS to 90091 with their car plate number after which the user will receive a text message stating the reservation confirmation, the ticket number, car number, code and time.
In the event that the owner wants to extend the timing, another text message to the same number will be required.
