Muscat: Ahad bint Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Busaidiyah, the wife of Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, made an appearance for the first time ever, to mark National Omani Women’s Day.
In a ceremony hosted at Seeb Palace in Muscat, the First Lady awarded Omani women the Royal Commendation Medal for the work they do for the country.
During the royal ceremony, she highlighted the education and training women have had access to in the country for their continued progress in society.
“This enabled them to efficiently participate in the national building process while being armed with knowledge, laws and systems of sound governance that guaranteed their rights and secured their status,” she said.
She also praised women on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic.
