Doha: Customs officers foiled an attempt to smuggle 3.277 kilogrammes of marijuana through Hamad International Airport.
A female customs officer became suspicious of a passenger and screened his luggage to discover the marijuana packed and concealed in his suitcase, reported local Arabic daily Al-Sharq.
The drug trafficker was referred to the anti-narcotics department.
Customs General Authority President Ahmed bin Ali Al-Muhannadi honoured the female officer for her alertness in foiling the smuggling bid.
