DUBAI: A breath-taking spell of 4/34 from Pat Cummins helped Kolkata Knight Riders beat Rajasthan Royals by 60 runs in the IPL last night.
Defending 192, Kolkata rattled Rajasthan in the powerplay, dismissing their top five batsmen.
Earlier, a scintillating 68 not out from Eoin Morgan guided Kolkata to 191/7. With the win, Kolkata have jumped from the eighth spot to fourth.
In the first match of the day, Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed his third 50-plus score in a row to guide Chennai Super Kings to a comprehensive nine wicket win over Kings XI Punjab.
Along with Gaikwad (62*), Faf du Plessis (48) and Ambati Rayudu (30*) made important contributions in the chase of 154. Earlier, a brave 62 not out from Deepak Hooda lifted Punjab to 153/6 after a batting collapse. With this defeat, Punjab are out of play-off contention.
