Bahrain’s national basketball team qualified for the 2021 Asian Cup after defeating India 88-72 yesterday, at the end of the Asian qualifiers for Group Four at the Khalifa Sports City Hall in Isa Town.
The Bahrainis ensured their qualification after ranking second in the group with 7 points, behind Lebanon on 8 points. India came third and Iraq fourth.
The Bahrain team dominated the match, despite losing the first quarter 11-26. They won the next three rounds 26-20, 29-8, 22-19.
The match witnessed the brilliance of young Muzammil Amir, who scored 12 points and provided a decisive ball, in addition to controlling 10 balls in defence. In another match, Lebanon beat Iraq 78-69 to top the group.
