Rayounpour claimed the Alba Cup in the ninth race of the season organised by the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club at its track in Sakhir yesterday.
The winner, owned by Al Adiyat Racing, trained by A Smith and ridden by Gerald Mosse, edged past Desert Lion, owned by Isa Mahmood Al Seddiqi, in the 2,400m race for first class imported horses three years old and upwards. In third position was New Show, owned by Victorious.
The winner received a prize of BD5,000.
In the sixth race of the day, Aleko, owned by Naser Ali Naser Almoamen, trained by Ali Nasser and ridden by Marcialis Jaures, emerged winner to claim the Alba Cup and a prize of BD5,000.
Kinks, owned by Isa Mahmood Al Seddiqi, finished second in the 1,400m race for imported horses three years old and upwards.
Graphite Storm, owned by Al Hassanain Syndicate, was third.
The fifth race for Alba Cup was claimed by Teenar of Al Mohamediya Racing. The winners was followed by Tulip Fever, owned by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, while Powertrain of Al Adiyat Racing finished third.
The winner of the 1,000m race received a prize of BD2,500.
Meanwhile, Henry The Rose of M and E Racing won the fourth race of the day holding off Muqarin, owned by Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa. Baher, owned by Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, finished third in the 1,600m race for local-bred horses three years and above.
Paco Man, owned by Abdulla Fawzi Nass, won the third race, for Alba Cup, overpowering Wilayah, owned by Zahra Ebrahim Abdulla. Shaddad of Al Bastaki Racing was third.
The 2,200m race for classes 3 and 4 and maiden horses three years old and above carried a prize of BD2,500.
Khaalida, owned by Abdulla Fawzi Nass, won the second race, for three-year-old class 4 and maiden horses. Naahy, owned by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, was second while Mishaweer, owned by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, finished third.
The first race, for Al Raffa Cup, was clinched by Kuheilan Umm Zorayr 1766 of KHK Racing.
Kuheilan Umm Zorayr 1766, owned by Safra, was second and Al Hamdany 1746 of Al Riffa third in the 1,000m race for class 3 and 4 maiden horses (WAHO) three years old and above.
The winners were honoured by Alba CEO Ali Al Baqali and Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
