Abdulaziz Khalid scored two goals to steer Galali past Sitra 2-1 in a fifth round match of the Second Division Football League last night.
Khalid struck first in the 28th minute to take Galali 1-0 ahead at half-time. Sitra’s Mohammed Abdul Nabi, however, drew level by scoring in the 70th minute. The match seemed headed for a draw when, in the 86th minute, Khalid struck again to give Galali a much-needed win.
Galali, who are seventh in the standings, increased their tally to seven points following last night’s victory while third-placed Sitra stay on nine after suffering their second loss of the season.
In another match, Isa Town defeated Al Tadhamun 2-0 with the help of goals by Mohammed Khalid and Britto.
Isa Town are ranked fifth with seven points after last night’s victory while Tadhamun are yet to claim a point this season.
Meanwhile, Al Ettifaq failed to regain the top spot after a goalless draw with Bahrain Club.
Al Ettifaq are in the second position with 11 points, one less than leaders Al Hala who sealed a commanding 5-1 victory over Al Ettihad on Wednesday.
The fifth-round has concluded with last night’s matches and the next round will begin on Wednesday.
