Bahrain motorcycle rider Mohammed Salman successfully completed the 12-stage Dakar Rally yesterday.
He covered the last stage of the race from Yanbu and Jeddah ranking 52, and 85 out of 101 participants who took part in the 47th edition.
Salman made history, becoming the first Bahraini to take part in the global sporting event and complete the 12-stage race successfully.
He pledged to make the utmost efforts to reach the finish line and raise Bahrain flag to confirm.
He dedicated his achievement to His majesty King Hamad and to the people of Bahrain.
Salman also praised His majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Affairs (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and SCYS first deputy chairman and Bahraini Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
