Doha: An expatriate was diagnosed with the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV).

The 23-year-old man tested positive to the viral disease at Hamad General Hospital and was quarantined immediately, reported local Arabic daily Al-Sharq.

The patient, who is now reportedly in stable condition, developed MERS symptoms, including fever, cough and back-ache.

This is the third case of MERS-CoV in Qatar in 2016.
