Riyadh: Saudi Arabia will take measures to protect itself, and to ensure the stability of energy supplies and maritime traffic, a Coalition spokesman said last night.
Saudi Arabia confirmed one of its oil storage yards at the Ras Tanura port was attacked by the Houthis earlier in the day, according to a statement from a source at the kingdom’s Energy Ministry.
A drone that was used to attack a petroleum tank farm at Ras Tanura port was launched from the sea, according to the official statement, while shrapnel from a ballistic missile fell near Aramco’s residential area in Dhahran.
Both attacks did not result in any injury or loss of life or property, authorities from Saudi Arabia’s Energy Ministry confirmed.
SPA quoted a defence ministry spokesman as describing them as “cowardly terrorist attacks”.
Saudi state media earlier said the Saudi-led military coalition battling the Houthis had intercepted 12 armed drones aimed at “civilian targets” without specifying a location in the kingdom as well as two ballistic missiles fired towards
Jazan.
The Houthis said they attacked military targets in Dammam, Asir and Jazan.
The Coalition spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen said on Sunday that Saudi Arabia will take all necessary measures to protect itself and to ensure the stability of energy supplies and maritime traffic.
Meanwhile, Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry last night condemned the cowardly Houthi attack on the oil storage facility in Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura port.
