  • <p><em>Students performing on stage during the ceremony</em></p><p>Fifty-four pupils from Noor Al Diyar Private School celebrated their KG2 graduation, at the school premises in Diyar Al Muharraq.</p><p>The ceremony featured festivities at the newly-built British curriculum school and a concert by the students.</p><p>It was held under the patronage of Kuwait Finance House managing director and chief executive Abdulhakeem Yacoob Alkhayyat, and attended by school chairman Ali Hasan, and directors Sameera Ali Hasan and Dr Muhammad Mashood. Mr Alkhayyat presented the pupils with certificates in the presence of parents.</p><p><em><br></em></p>

  • <p><em>Members cleaning the water.&nbsp;</em></p><p>Twenty-nine bags of rubbish have been collected from Water Garden City as part of a beach clean-up drive.</p><p>Bahrain Social Runners (BSR) with the support of CleanUp Bahrain conducted the clean-up at the development, which is their summer training venue. Approximately 40 members of BSR and their friends took part in cleaning the water and shoreline.</p><p>The clean-up session was followed by swim training and breakfast celebrating the farewell of BSR member Una Brockerhoff, who will return to Namibia after 13 years in Bahrain.</p><p>Of the 29 bags collected, 12 were filled with plastic and aluminium, which will be recycled.</p><p><em><br></em></p>

<p>An annual blood donation drive, spearheaded by Mumtalakat, was conducted at the Arcapita Building in Bahrain Bay.</p>
<p>Held in partnership with the Central Blood Bank, the blood drive brought together members of staff from the Mumtalakat group as well as from companies located in the Arcapita Building and Bahrain Bay area, including family and friends.</p>
<p>The initiative was in line with the group&rsquo;s efforts to encourage community service.</p>

  • <p>Labour Ministry Under-Secretary Sabah Al Dossari yesterday opened the Seef Health Training Centre in Amwaj Islands, under the patronage of Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan.</p>
<p>National Health Regulatory Authority chief executive Dr Mariam Al Jalahma, Tamkeen CEO Dr Ibrahim Janahi, and the work team of the committee in charge of licensing and examining health training programmes, officials and specialists attended.</p>
<p>It also aims to prepare new medical graduates to join the labour market, as it will grant its trainees internationally-recognised certificates. Mr Al Dossari lauded the project, noting that it will contribute to improving the health sector in the kingdom.</p>

Organised by Ramee Grand Hotel and Spa, Seef, Bahrain, the flagship event was spearheaded by general manager Kumar Ashwani and executive chef Giradhari Sindh Rana.   • <p>BDF Commander-in-Chief Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa yesterday inspected several BDF units and reviewed their administrative and combat readiness.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Manama: Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force, Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, today paid inspection visits to several BDF units.</p>
<p>The commander-in-chief reviewed the units&rsquo; administrative and combat readiness, as well as their military preparations and work progress.</p>
<p>He gave the necessary directives to the units&rsquo; personnel and urged them to exert more efforts and be more vigilant while carrying out their duties of defending the nation and safeguarding its accomplishments.</p>
<p>Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed lauded the honourable achievements attained by the BDF since its establishment, hailing the landmark accomplishments of its brave affiliates, to whom he wished every success in carrying out the tasks assigned to them in Bahrain and abroad.</p>
<p>He pointed out that the BDF&rsquo;s General Command is always keen on providing the necessary training for all its affiliates, as part of its efforts to constantly develop its branches and units so as to be ready to perform the military tasks assigned to them.</p>
<p>The commander-in-chief stressed that thanks to the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander, the BDF has become a modern force that matches its counterparts in other countries in terms of weaponry and training, adding that it is on the right track towards reaching the highest levels of competence and readiness.</p>

  • The Bahrain Development Bank (BDB)’s contribution to funding small and medium enterprises since the start of 2018 would help in creating more than 3,000 jobs, the chief of the entrepreneurship finance organisation told the Bahrain India Society (BIS) during a luncheon seminar held at the Capital Club Bahrain. The event saw BDB chief executive Sanjeev Paul talk about various shifts taking over the market and how the kingdom could benefit from capitalising on these changes. BIS speakers at the seminar included chairman Raj Damani, director Vijay Boloor and treasurer PS Balasubramaniam.

  • <p>An induction gathering was organised by Al Salam Bank – Bahrain to welcome 26 Bahraini students from universities in the kingdom into its 13th annual summer internship programme. It was held at the Sheraton Hotel Bahrain and attended by students who completed majors in different fields. “During the yearly internship programme, students acquire a wealth of knowledge through expert mentorship, gaining valuable experience and practical skills that will help them to excel once they join the kingdom’s workforce,” said bank human resources and administration head Muna Al Balooshi. The 2019 programme also includes a visit to Bahrain Fintech Bay where the interns will develop a broader understanding of the latest digital incubation platforms. It was held in collaboration with the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) to gather opinions and observations about the online platform, www.data.gov.bh.   • <p>Closer links between Bahrain and the Philippines formed the basis of talks during a visit by a senior Flipino government official. His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received Philippines Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Arriola. The Premier reiterated Bahrain’s keenness to strengthen co-operation at the regional and international level, while paying tribute to the Philippines community in Bahrain.   • <p>Traffic deputy director general Colonel Mohammed Daraj honoured the first winner of a weekly prize for users of e-services. Bahrain Credit director of credit cards Abdulrasool Al Aali was present. The e-services are available through the national portal Bahrain.bh or via the e-traffic application which can be downloaded on smartphones or e-government platforms. Bahraini Abdullah Al Atawi won BD50 provided by Bahrain Credit company Imtiaz, after a draw of ID numbers of those who used e-services. The prizes will continue until June next year.</p>

  • <p>The Southern Governorate yesterday held a security and social awareness exhibition at Enma Mall, Riffa. Children were briefed about the importance of wearing a seat-belt, avoiding mobile phones while driving, crossing the road safely, following traffic signals and obeying traffic rules. An awareness session was also held to highlight dangers of electronic games. The event aimed to boost community partnership with the General Directorate of Traffic and the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security.</p>
