  • <div>Two additional observation rooms in Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Centre were opened yesterday by parliament chairwoman Fouzia Zainal in the presence of former MP Hassan Bukhammas and centre chief executive and director Habeeb Rahman. With the addition of 19 new beds in the two rooms, the centre, in Manama, now has 30 beds for patients. Now in its 15th year of operations in Bahrain, the centre is a subsidiary of Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Group, the leading healthcare conglomerate in the GCC. Guests, visitors, colleagues and Nadeen School students took part in various competitions held at the hotel during the hour. The hotel also reached out to in-house guests with assistance from the students, who spread their environmental message through poetry, songs and posters. The event was aimed at improving the quality of the Arabic language, said committee chairman Waleed Bashir.   • <p>Forty-five volunteers underwent special training for a suicide prevention programme organised by the Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF). Listen, Involve, Foster, Engage (Life) is an initiative of ICRF that trains volunteers on how to identify those at risk of suicide.&nbsp; American Mission Hospital clinical psychologist Dr Anisha Abraham conducted the session, providing insight on how to deal with suicide prevention and provide mental health support. ICRF chairman Aruldas Thomas, vice chairman Dr Babu Ramachandran and senior members were present at the event, held at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain and supported by Y K Almoayyed managing director Mona Almoayyed.   • <p>Businessman Mohammed Dadabhai has been elected chairman of the new board of governors of Beacon Private School, Busaiteen. Other members include Shaikha Hind bint Salman Al Khalifa, Abdulnabi Al Shoala, Jamal Fakhro, Abdulkarim Bucheery, Aziz Gilitwala, Habib Modara, Sahar Ataei, Ghada Bouzeineddine and Samir Chamma. Currently, the school has classes up to Grade 4 and an application has already been made to the Education Ministry for permission to offer classes from Grade 5 to Grade 9. The school hopes to have 100 classrooms that can accommodate 2,100 students. The school facilities will include state-of-the-art classrooms, science labs, two libraries and two swimming pools, a gymnasium and canteen when completed.   • <p>An agreement was signed between the Bahrain British Business Forum (BBBF) and the Bahrain Business Women Society (BBWS), aimed at empowering women in business. The memorandum of understanding was signed between BBWS president Ahlam Janahi and BBBF chairman Khalid Al Zayani. The ceremony took place during a networking lunch organised by the BBBF’s ‘Women in Business’ Special Interest Group in partnership with Euro Motors Jaguar Land Rover at the Capital Club to mark International Women’s Day, and Bahraini and British Mother’s Days, which all fall in March. Shura Council second vice-chairwoman Hala Ramzy Fayez was the guest speaker at the event which was attended by more than 80 BBBF and BBWS members and guests. Held in collaboration with the Thai Embassy and Amazing Thailand, the four-day festival kicked off at the Royal Thai Restaurant.
