  • <p>The Premier yesterday received the sons of the late Abdullatif Al Nasser, led by Dr Faisal Al Nasser and Salah Al Nasser. They presented the Prime Minister with a book, Struggle and Success, which documents their late father’s life and achievements in trade and humanitarian work. The Prime Minister praised the legacy of their father, highlighting his reputation in Bahrain and across the GCC.</p>

Fun activities were lined up for the children before they were presented with gifts.   • <p>New ways to support small and medium-sized enterprises were discussed during a meeting between Northern Governor Ali Al Asfoor and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (BCCI) commercial markets committee members and chairman Abdul Hakim Al Shammari. The governor praised the BCCI’s role in spurring the economic and investment sectors, as well as in supporting businessmen and investors. He also commended the committee for its efforts to provide facilities and services to merchants in local markets.</p>

  • <p>The Housing Ministry yesterday started distributing homes in Bloc 609 Housing Project, Sitra. The move follows the order of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to distribute 5,000 housing units. Housing Minister Bassem Al Hamer said that the ministry was keen to hand over the keys to beneficiaries on the third day of Eid Al Adha to share with them the festival joy. It is among the main housing projects emanating from His Majesty King Hamad’s directives to build 40,000 units, and carried out by the Housing Ministry within the 25,000-unit programme included in the Government Action Plan, the ministry said, noting that homes distribution under various projects proves that the ministry is on the right track to achieve the 40,000 units goal.</p>

  • <p>Millions of Lego bricks, models and sculptures were on display at the second edition of the Lego Show that began yesterday at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Sanabis. Organised by Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), it features popular characters from Star Wars, Marvel and Disney Princesses and will run until August 31. The Lego Show is open from 10am to 9pm. “The Lego Show comes as part of BTEA’s exciting calendar of events for 2018, and we are keen to host the event during the Eid holidays to attract a large number of visitors and tourists from inside the kingdom as well as neighbouring GCC countries,” said BTEA chief executive Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa. Additionally, Bahrain will host Cartoon Network Live! Heroes Unite show which will run for four days, from today until Sunday, at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.   • <p>A beach clean-up drive was organised by the Indian Social Forum Bahrain yesterday. Volunteers and members of the group visited beaches in Malkiya and Budaiya and collected trash from the areas. The event was held in co-operation with waste management company Urbaser to create awareness among public and ensure beaches are clean for the public especially during holidays. <p>Thirty-five children from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia took part in a mental calculation abacus challenge.&nbsp;</p>
<div>They had to answer 100 questions in 15 minutes using mental math or an abacus in preparation for International Mental Math challenge next year.&nbsp;</div>
