  • <p>The first edition of the Gulf Executive Leadership Support Forum was held at the Gulf Hotel Convention and Spa. The event was held under the patronage of Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan and was organised by the Bahrain Secretary Association and WorkSmart. The minister deputised Labour Affairs assistant under-secretary Dr Mohammed Al Ansari to attend the opening of the forum which brought together high-profile speakers and panellists of different nationalities and educational backgrounds.   • <p>Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza yesterday received International Peace Institute president Terje Roed-Larson and Middle East and North Africa director of the institute Nejib Freji. The minister praised his diplomatic initiatives in promoting the culture of peace in the region. He also praised the role of the institute in providing research and studies aimed at promoting international peace. He briefed them on the plans and projects of the Electricity and Water Authority.</p>

  • <p>International trainer and maths consultant Karen Wilding conducted workshops for teachers and learning support staff from 13 schools in Bahrain. The sessions focused on providing engaging opportunities for mathematical exploration in all areas of the curriculum. The ‘Maths Everywhere’ also provided ways to make learning mathematical concepts meaningful, practical and age-appropriate for young children.   • The opening ceremony of the King Hamad Chair in Inter-Faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-Existence was held yesterday at Sapienza University in Rome under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad.   • The Muharraq Municipal Council yesterday started planting 200,000 petunias as part of the first stage of its plans to beautify roads and public squares.   • <p><em>The band performs</em></p><p>Bahrain’s cruise season has started on a high note with the first cruise ship, Azamara Quest, arriving with more than 600 tourists to Khalifa Port yesterday.</p><p>The season will continue until May. The passengers were welcomed by the Nationality Passport and Residence Affairs and treated to a performance by the Police Band and other activities by the Mounted Police.</p><p><br></p>

  • <p>The Sea Festival was a huge success with more than 24,000 people visiting the cultural showcase that concluded yesterday.&nbsp;</p>
<div>The 10-day event featured performances by traditional Bahraini bands singing sea shanties, craftsmen showcasing traditional wares and dhow builders.&nbsp;</div>

<div>It also included stunt shows with performers on water-propelled boards, along with activities for children such as an aquatic themed play area, a cinema and water shows.</div>
