<p>It was organised by Discover Islam Society to celebrate the 71st National Day of Sri Lanka, which was observed earlier this week.</p>

  • <p>LuLu Hypermarket celebrated National Environment Day in association with Supreme Council for the Environment. Around 2,500 plants were distributed among children from schools, including Indian School and Multinational School, and nature lovers, who visited LuLu Hypermarkets. The initiative was supported by bwallet and Johnson’s. “At LuLu Hypermarket, we always celebrate initiatives to protect the environment and encouraging greenery is a first step towards that. To mark this special occasion, LuLu Hypermarket came up with a unique idea called ‘Free Plants for Kids’. Since children are closer to nature and represent the future, we want to use this opportunity to sow the seeds of environmental love in them,” said LuLu Group International director Juzer Rupawala.   • <p>More than 3,000 motor sport enthusiasts as well as fans of classic cars collection attended Bin Hindi Motors’ first car show of the year at the Bahrain International Circuit, Sakhir. The event, by the exclusive distributor of Kia Motors in Bahrain, was held in association with Bahrain Racing Car 973 Team. A key highlight at the event was the 2019 Kia Stinger which was offered for a test drive to potential customers. The Stinger stand also featured DJ Naz spinning the discs and a raffle.   • <p>Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and Supreme Council for Women president, yesterday patronised the opening of a fine arts exhibition by Bahraini artist Mariam Fakhro. It is being held at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities’ Art Centre under the theme Tawwa Al Nahar (It’s Too Early). <p>Bahraini entrepreneur Hamed Fakhro was the guest speaker at a regular lunch meeting of the Rotary Club of Salmaniya.&nbsp;</p>
<div>He spoke about &ldquo;Inventing 101&rdquo;, briefing the audience about his successes and failures in his attempts to invent a commercially successful product.&nbsp;</div>

<div>Besides intellectual property, his talk covered concept, design, prototyping, fundraising, manufacturing, distribution, marketing, quality control, sales and luck &ndash; which he noted were &ldquo;crucial ingredients to success&rdquo;.&nbsp;</div>

<div>Mr Fakhro is currently working on the redesign of his main success, Puffie, the portable folding cart which saw some good sales on Amazon in the US but had durability issues.&nbsp;</div>

  • <p>The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has been awarded ISO 27001 certification for its Information Security Management System (ISMS).</p>
<p>The certification was awarded by the Quality Certification Bureau Italia, and reflects TRA&rsquo;s commitment to implementing highest standards of information security and risk management.</p>
<p>TRA said it conforms to the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 standard by adopting an ISMS with the aim of maintaining high information security, confidentiality and integrity and controlling information management risks. <p>Nearly 1,100 children took part in the Second Teddy Bear Hospital awareness campaign held at The Avenues mall.&nbsp;</p>
<div>The two-day initiative, organised by the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), was created to simulate a real hospital and aimed at removing children&rsquo;s fear of hospitals and doctors.</div>

<div>Children were allowed to play the role of doctors and examine teddy bears, with the help from 120 AGU medical students.&nbsp;</div>
