  • <p><em>More than 1,000 workers took part in the event</em></p><p>More than 1,000 workers from labour camps across Bahrain attended a colourful summer festival featuring entertainment and fun activities.</p><p>Summer Fest 2019 was organised by the Indian Community Relief Fund as part of its commitment to celebrate Workers’ Day.&nbsp;</p><div>Held at the Indian Club premises in Manama, the event started with the lighting of the traditional lamp by workers celebrating their birthdays this month, followed by cake cutting.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>It also featured a tug-of-war, running race, sack race, three-legged jumping, karaoke singing and cinematic dance, among other activities.&nbsp;</div><p><em><br></em></p>

<p>The first edition of &ldquo;The Battle of Bahrain&rdquo; took place last night at Shaikh Isa Sports City in Riffa.</p>
<p>The boxing event was held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy president and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who was in attendance.</p>
<p>A full fight card of exciting bouts featuring schoolboys, youth, juniors, women and men thrilled spectators, who were treated to many other attractions on the side.</p>

Organised by the US Embassy as part of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities’ annual Bahrain Summer Festival, American dance company ‘Step Afrika!’ performed at the Cultural Hall.&nbsp;</p><div>The group blends the percussive dance styles practised by African-American social clubs in the US, traditional African dance and a variety of other dance and art forms. <p>Bahrain&rsquo;s senior men&rsquo;s national football team head coach Helio Sousa held a co-ordination meeting with the coaches of Bahrain&rsquo;s under-23 Olympic team and leading club Muharraq.</p>
<p>The gathering, upon the invitation of the Bahrain Football Association(BFA), was chaired by BFA vice-president for technical affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Salman Al Khalifa, and among others present was BFA national teams director Rashid Al Buainain.</p>
<p>Sousa discussed with Olympic team coach Samir Ben Chammam and Muharraq coach Marcos Paqueta ways of co-ordination for the upcoming period, when several of their players will be on duty for both club and country.</p>

<p>Zenobia Intermediate School for Girls pupil Maram Hamed created the concept, called My Book Is Sustainable.&nbsp;</p>
