Authorities in Kuwait have moved a giant Christmas tree that was set up in a popular shopping centre after objections were raised that the decoration contradicts Shariah law and traditions, local media reported.
The country's Commerce Ministry pulled down a statue of the ancient Greek goddess Aphrodite, displayed at a mall shop after online complaints last year.
The statue was removed after a photo was shared on social media by a citizen calling on the mall’s management to take it down, saying: “We are in a Muslim country.”
