Fabulous Filipino cultural performances shone on stage during a special Independence Day celebration organised by the Filipino Club Bahrain.
More than 600 people attended the event at Bahrain’s Cultural Hall including Philippine Embassy officials, headed by Charge d’Affaires Anne Jalando-on Louis, and other officials and VIPs.
Philippine celebrities Joshua Garcia and Jane De Leon, both stars of the popular TV series ‘Darna’, travelled to Bahrain for the occasion and put on a memorable musical display of guitar-playing, singing and dance.
The duo also came together for a combined performance, much to the excitement of all those in attendance on Friday night.
“We have staged these kind of activities in the past but this was the first after a gap of four years, so people were very excited to be a part of it,” Filipino Club Bahrain president Ric Advincula said.
“We want to thank the Bahrain Authority of Culture and Antiquities for their efforts and support in making the event such a success and also say a big ‘thank you’ to all those who attended and took time to participate.”
Additionally, the evening celebrated the talent of local performers, with both adults and children taking to the stage in competition. Many walked off with trophies and prizes but according to the organisers, members of the Filipino community on the island were all winners on the night.
