THIS refers to a report, ‘Coloured rubbish bags plan to manage waste’ (GDN, June 2), which referred to a proposal by the Southern Municipal Council to supply homes and businesses with colour-coded biodegradable rubbish bags to promote recycling and tackle rising domestic and industrial waste.
Besides the fact that I don’t expect the plan to be implemented in the near future, what is the benefit of a coloured rubbish bag over the traditional black one? Will the waste in the red or green bag decompose slowly under the scorching sun, or will a green bag intermittently spray fragrance in the kitchen?!
Earlier, we were given to understand that the citizens would receive a year’s quota of garbage bags .
