Bahrain’s table tennis teams stole the limelight on the penultimate day of the West Asian Table Tennis Championships being held in Amman, Jordan, with one gold and two silvers.
In the men’s Under-19 final, the Bahrain team consisting of Salman Mohammed Abu Hamadeh, Ali Abbas Abdul Wahab, Fadel Abbas Ali and Sedhosein Hassan Majid, defeated Saudi Arabia 3-1 to claim the gold medal.
On the third day of the competition, the kingdom’s Under-11 and Under-15 boys teams bagged silver medals, taking the overall tally to five medals - one gold and a bronze won earlier.
The first silver medal of the day came from the U-15 team consisting of Mohammed Nader, Majid Naji, Hussein Jaber and Majid Osama, while the second silver was won by the U-11 team of Hadi Hussein, Ali Yusuf, Sayyid Nasser Alawi and Hassan Ibrahim.
Bahrain Table Tennis Federation secretary general Abbas Al Mahfouz expressed happiness with the results of the kingdom’s teams, which confirms the support and follow-up of chairperson Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa.
