A NEW community initiative has been launched to empower communities with the skills, knowledge and confidence to be everyday lifesavers.
The Safer Community Partnership, launched yesterday by the country’s leading drowning prevention charity Royal Life Saving Bahrain (RLSB), hope to achieve its goals by:
• Collaborating on water safety campaigns and activities that promote Bahrain, volunteerism and water safety advocacy;
• Promoting education programmes and opportunities to learn lifesaving skills;
• Enabling opportunities for communities to learn lifesaving and water safety skills;
• Encouraging members of the community to become volunteer lifesavers and support other community initiatives including beach clean-ups, first aid, and assisting in the delivery of junior education programmes; and
• Exploring ways to improve the survival rate of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests with a focus on community engagement .
