A carbon capture and storage project which could decarbonise about 20 per cent of Bahrain’s energy system is among key projects being studied by the Oil and Gas Holding Company (nogaholding), the company’s top official has said.
Mark Thomas, group chief executive of the national hydrocarbon and energy investment and development company, told the Sustainability Forum Middle East conference yesterday that the project would focus on aluminium, steel, petrochemical and refining, which are hard to abate export focused industries that rely on oil and natural gas to provide reliable, affordable and secure sources of energy .
