ONE of Bahrain’s big-hearted charity champions who has raised hundreds of thousands of dinars in support of the sick, the elderly or special needs children for more than 55 years will soon be bidding farewell to the island she calls home. British expatriate Dreena Rogers MBE, known across the kingdom as ‘Mama Dreena’ and her husband Peter, an 84-year-old retired Gulf Air senior flight engineer and examiner, will be returning to Bedfordshire in the UK on May 27 to spend more time with their children – Lorraine, 62, a hospital administrator, Peter, a 56-year-old retired airline captain, and Lee, 53, a ‘jack-of-all-trades’, and grandchildren .
