Kalaam Telecom has set its sights on the burgeoning Saudi market next door with plans to employ its tried-and-tested mergers and acquisitions (M&A) route.
The Bahrain-based regional telecommunications service and managed solutions provider has acquired four companies in the last seven years with Kuwaiti ISP leader Zajil Telecom being the latest, chief executive Veer Passi told the GDN that with these it has become more equipped to meet businesses’ digital connectivity demands and can offer customers “easy-to-procure, fast and pan-GCC solutions over a single agreement”.
He added, “We have seen an increasing demand for high-speed Internet and cloud-based services from businesses in Saudi Arabia. The market is also being supported by the government’s initiatives to promote the digital economy.”

Speaking on the sidelines of the second season of its flagship event, Konnect, at the Gulf Hotel Bahrain Convention and Spa, the official said its inorganic expansion plans for the GCC’s largest economy are aimed at acquiring new customers and markets, achieving economies of scale and gain access to new technology or intellectual property.

Konnect 2023 provided a unique opportunity to explore AI-powered solutions to enable digital transformation for businesses in the GCC.
It was a day of innovation and inspiration as people from the business world, governments, solution partner, industry peers and technology experts came together to share insights and experience on how to transform their business with emerging technologies.
This year witnessed a number of new highlights including AI industry veteran and Artificial Intelligence Society and International Group of AI president Dr Jassim Haji, who addressed guests as keynote speaker and shared his knowledge on emerging trends, best practices and advancements in the GCC.

The fireside chat managed by a panel of experienced panellists sparked a lot of interest in attendees which discussed the significance of AI and digital technologies in delivering business outcomes for enterprise customers in terms of improving operational efficiency, enhancing customer experiences, identifying new business opportunities, and driving revenue growth.
Panellists from AWS, Quadron, Mitel, Fortinet and Kalaam shared examples of how AI enablement in digital solutions have been used to drive business growth in different industries, discussed industry best practices and tips to compete in an increasingly digital world.
Partner booths from One Screen, Mitel, Dstny Engage, Quadron, GTS and Kalaam featured live demo sessions of their solutions, creating a more interactive experience and providing clients with an opportunity to interact with and learn more about their offerings.
Additionally, the event featured Kalaam’s robot K-Bot to meet, greet and interact with clients.
The K-Bot served as an innovative addition to the event, generating excitement and engagement amongst attendees, garnering media attention, social media buzz and exposure for the event, while also showcasing the company’s innovative and forward-thinking approach to technology and customer engagement.
