I WAS shocked after I came to know about the passing of former diplomat Karim Ebrahim Al Shakar.
For anyone who would like to understand the meaning and the art of diplomacy, the only answer is: Mr Shakar.
His passion and dedication could not be underestimated. He held great values for Bahrain and said the country ‘is in my soul and my body’.
He was a family man, a man of integrity combined with humbleness and humanity.
I had the chance to meet him years ago as I received an invitation for lunch with his family at his house in Riffa, along with the former Ambassador of Thailand and his wife. Myself, my daughter and her husband were warmly welcomed by Mr Shakar’s wife Fatima and his three daughters.
We have lost a dear friend and family. We have lost one of the most respectable, dignified and honourable diplomats in Bahrain. We have lost a good man, a good father and a good husband to his wife.
May God bless his soul and may he rest in peace in the hands of God.
