The third edition of the Nasser Bin Hamad Amateur Cycling Tour will be launched today under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser Hamad Al Khalifa.
Organisd by the Bahrain Cycling Association (BCA) in co-operation with Faalyat Company, the four-day event will conclude on Saturday.
Speaking at a Press conference ahead of the event, BCA president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa thanked Shaikh Nasser for supporting the tour. He said that many targets have been reached in the first and second editions of the Tour. He pointed out that the third edition is expected to witness stronger competition.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Khalifa Al Khalifa, representing Batelco, emphasised that the company is proud of its continuous support of the Tour. He added that the event enhances sporting and social values, wishing the participants success.
Major Ahmed Al Ahmed, representing the Interior Ministry, said that the Traffic Directorate is prepared to manage the traffic flow for the tour. He noted that everyone will work hand in hand to achieve complete success.
The Tour comes within the framework of Shaikh Nasser’s keenness to discover new talents that can further elevate the sport of cycling, which has achieved numerous accomplishments in the past.
It also aims to enable cyclists to reach the professional world, in addition to supporting amateur cyclists and promoting a cycling culture within the community.
