ABDULLA Ali of Bahrain Giants triumphed in the fourth stage of the 3rd Nasser Bin Hamad Amateur Cycling Tour, organised by the Bahrain Cycling Association (BCA) in co-operation with Faalyat, covering a distance of 80km yesterday.
Hassan Aqeel of Bahrain Amateurs came second, and his brother, Mohammed Aqeel, from the same team, came third in the race for local cyclists in the event held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Ali was crowned champion of the tour after being awarded the yellow and red jerseys for the best time and highest points, while Mohammed Aqeel clinched the blue jersey for under-23 category, and Mohammed Khatim grabbed the green jersey for the over 40 years category.
At the GCC and National Team level, Moroccan Said Aboluchi of the Turk team won the fourth stage, while UAE’s Said Khair of Dubai Police team finished second, and Syrian Mazen Hussain of Xstream Sport came third.
Adel Barbary of Dubai Police claimed the orange and grey jerseys, and was crowned the champion at the GCC and National Team level. The UAE’s Mohammed Abdullah Al Hammadi of Al Wathbah team won the purple jersey for under-23 category, and Vladimir bagged the pink jersey for over 40.
In the 10km disabled race, Nasser Al Marisi stood first, Mousa Al Sayegh second, and Mohammed Habeib third.
In women’s competitions, Fatima Murad came first in the race for Bahrainis, followed by Zakia Al Sadah second, and May Al Hajji third.
Chinese cyclist Lin won first place in the race for GCC National Team and resident women’s cyclists, followed by American Casey Pittman and Briton Emma Baker in second and third, respectively.
In the individual race for Bahrainis, Mohammed Mubarak took first place, Essa Saleh second and Sayed Ahmed Al Kamal third.
The winners were honoured in the presence of General Sports Authority CEO Dr Abdulrahman Askar, BCA president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bapco representative Lubna Sulaibeekh, Gulf Air representative Abbas Hassan, and Faalyat’s Ahmed Al Hajj, who is also the chairman of the High Organising Committee of the Tour.
The supporters and sponsors of the event – Bahrain Cycling Association, Faalyat Company, GSA, Bapco, Batelco, Gulf Air, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health, Royal Bahrain Hospital, Team Bahrain Victorious, GWM Cars Company, Ministry of Works and Ministry of Municipalities Affair and Agriculture – were also honoured yesterday.
