Louis Klein of Czechia got his hands on the Junior Dubai Desert Classic trophy after firing a Junior Course Record nine-under 63 in the second round and posting an impressive total of 15-under par over three days of intense action at Emirates Golf Club.
The UAE played host to the next generation of stars, aged 18 and under, as they competed in the 54-hole tournament hosted by the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, in collaboration with the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF), which this year boasted World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) status for the first time.
A total of 64 boys and girls from across the world played under the lights of the Faldo Course for the first two rounds, before the top 30 players and ties went head-to-head over the Majlis Course, just days before the game’s elite tee off on the same track for the 36th edition of the DP World Tour’s Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
Klein finished the third edition of the tournament, which gives junior golfers a taste of what it’s like to play in a world-class event, at the summit of the leaderboard after carding rounds of 69 and 63 on the Faldo Course, before a final-round 69 on the Majlis got him over the line.
His record-breaking second round, under the floodlights of the Faldo Course, was the pick of the bunch, featuring a spellbinding run of six consecutive birdies from the seventh hole, setting up an eight-stroke victory over his nearest challenger.
Norway’s Daniel Nilsson posted a three-round total of seven-under 209 to take the runner-up spot while Pritish Karayat of India finished level-par 216 to secure third place.
The youngsters were presented with their prizes in a ceremony that was attended by DP World Tour star Richie Ramsay, Hero Dubai Desert Classic executive tournament director Simon Corkill, and EGF official Walid Al Attar.
The upcoming Hero Dubai Desert Classic is the oldest golf competition in the Middle East. This year’s event will be the 36th edition of the tournament.
The DP World Tour’s 2025 calendar will be making a stop in the kingdom for the Bahrain Championship from January 30 to February 2 as part of its international swing.
