DUATHLON – THE 2025 Asia Triathlon Duathlon Championships is scheduled to take place today in the kingdom.
The prestigious event, registered on the 2025 calendar of World Triathlon, the sport’s international governing body, will be held at Amwaj Islands, with a wide participation of elite athletes, both men and women, from across the continent.
The meet is taking place under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
It features both a duathlon standard distance and a duathlon sprint distance. The duathlon standard distance will be for all elite men and women individuals. This will begin with a 5km run, followed by a 30km cycle, and ending with another 5km run.
The elite men’s race is scheduled to begin at 6am while the elite women’s event is set for an 8.30am start.
Meanwhile, the duathlon sprint distance is for individual age-group and team relay competitors. This will be composed of a 5km run, a 20km bike ride, and a 2.5km run.
The participating elite athletes held a familiarisation course yesterday and had a briefing with officials in preparation for the race.
Bahrain is being represented by elite triathlete Moussa Karich, who was the silver-medallist amongst the men in the 2023 Asia Triathlon Duathlon Championships, held at New Clark City in the Philippines.
