HANDBALL – Bahrain have reached the final of the 10th Arab Handball Championship.
The national handball team booked their spot in the title clash after defeating hosts Kuwait 29-24 at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex yesterday.
Bahrain made a strong start in the semi-final clash, staying ahead by eight points (17-9) at half-time.
Mohammed Habib, who excelled for the nationals, was declared as the player of the match.
Bahrain reached the semi-finals after defeating Egypt 36-32 in their Group A third-round match on Wednesday.
Earlier yesterday, Saudi Arabia defeated Iraq 25-20 in a match to determine the fifth to ninth places.
The Saudi team got off to a brilliant start, fending off Iraq’s challenge to lead 10-12 at half-time. The second half saw Saudi Arabia dominate the proceedings until the end. Saudi player Haidar Mohammed was given the best player award.
In another match, Tunisia edged past Morocco 35-32.
