Bahrain Chamber chairman Sameer Nass led a delegation to Germany to participate in the 28th Arab-German Business Forum and a board meeting of the Arab-German Chamber (Ghorfa) in Berlin, advocating for stronger economic partnerships.
Speaking at the Ghorfa meeting, Mr Nass highlighted the strategic importance of economic cooperation between Arab nations and Germany. He noted that trade between Germany and Arab countries reached 62.1 billion euros in 2023, with Bahrain’s trade volume with Germany standing at $656 million in the same year.
Mr Nass identified opportunities for increased investment and expanded trade despite global economic challenges. He urged enhanced collaboration in the digital economy, emphasising its critical role in fostering sustainable growth.
The Bahrain Chamber delegation also participated in the 28th Arab-German Business Forum, which focused on sustainable integration.
Bahrain Chamber first vice-chairman Khalid Najibi emphasised Bahrain’s attractiveness as an investment hub and its strategic location in the Gulf region. He stressed the need for closer economic ties with Germany, particularly in technology and renewable energy.
Dr Khaled Hanafy, secretary-general of the Union of Arab Chambers, underscored the importance of moving beyond traditional trade to include technology transfer and joint investment for sustainable development.
