A determined Australian woman has set a new Guinness World Record by performing 7,079 pull-ups in 24 hours, nearly doubling the previous record.
34-year-old Olivia Vinson broke the record for most pull-ups in 24 hours (female). The previous record of 4,081 was set by Paula Gorla from Poland in 2021.
Olivia said, "I was looking for a bigger challenge and my husband and coach actually suggested 24 hours of pull-ups, which I initially, quite literally, laughed at because I thought there was no way.
"I looked up what the current record was, which was 4,081, and again I thought, 'there's no way'.
"After a little while, I did some maths on it and I thought maybe I could."
For her first attempt in 2024, Olivia trained for three months. But just 12 hours into the attempt, injury struck. She pulled a bicep tendon in her left arm, which essentially meant that at that point, she couldn't even do a single pull-up.
After two months of rest, her arm had healed before she returned to training.
Finally, on March 29, she set a new record. She averaged about five pull-ups every minute.
