ATHLETICS – BAHRAIN’S superstar sprinter Salwa Eid Naser had a solid showing in the latest meeting of this year’s Grand Slam Track series, held in Philadelphia, in the US.
Naser placed fourth in the women’s 200 metres but was disqualified in the women’s 400m following an unfortunate lane infringement rule violation.
Grand Slam Track is a series of meetings dedicated to creating the best head-to-head matchups and rivalries for athletics fans globally. Philadelphia marked its third event of the year, following competitions in Kingston, Jamaica, and in Miami, the US, where Naser also participated. There will be one final meet, set to take place in Los Angeles this June 27 to 29.
Athletes earn points as they aim to claim their share of a $12.6million total prize pool across the season.
In Philadelphia, Naser clocked a mark of 22.90 seconds in her 200m run. She finished behind Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic, who won in 22.46s, while Isabella Whittaker of the US was the runner-up in 22.82s and Jessika Gbai of Ivory Coast came third in 22.85s.
