The Saudi Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Public Security, in partnership with the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), has launched a cutting-edge smart platform powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and remote sensing technologies to serve pilgrims during the Hajj season.
The platform marks a significant advancement in digital transformation and surveillance integration, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. By combining AI with remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS), the platform processes high-resolution satellite imagery to deliver comprehensive, real-time insights into the Two Holy Mosques and the holy sites.
This innovative system supports decision-makers in effectively managing crowds, improving safety, and ensuring the secure performance of Hajj rituals.
It enables authorities to monitor heat islands, detect irregular patterns, and analyse environmental and crowd dynamics, offering critical data and comparisons between current and previous Hajj seasons.
The platform enhances coordination among various security sectors and government agencies, strengthens field response capabilities, and provides a unified operational picture to guide proactive planning and service development.
